The "Nursery"

Ross and I have been visiting First Baptist Church Jenks lately. We really enjoy the pastor and the people who attend there. We usually just keep Hadley with us in the main service; HOWEVER, that is quickly becoming too difficult. She is almost 8 months old...loves to talk and laugh...loves to eat puffs and squeal/giggle over them...and it's really hard to tell her to "sshhh", because she understands that so well. :)

After the service, we decided to check out the nursery, look around, and meet who her teachers would be. It was a very nice setup! There is only one door in and out of the nursery area, and those doors are locked at all times. You must be buzzed in. Each child has a name tag that matches the parents LAMINATED name tag. These have pictures of both the parents and the children on them. High-Tech right?!?

On our way home from church, Ross and I talked about the nursery and how we both felt about it. If nothing else, we were simply impressed by the security measures that were taken to keep our child safe. This brought up the conversation of how Times Have Changed!!

I remember when my parents dropped me off at the bowling alley "nursery" while they bowled for a league. I remember the half door, one old lady, and a long wooden teeter-totter "thing" that you could sit/ride on. There were also murals of forest and wild animals painted on the walls.

Ross remembers the "nursery" at the Women Only Mademoiselles on Pennsylvania Ave. His mother dropped him off to stay with an old lady who smoked and watched As The World Turns, while she worked out.

I'm not saying this with a bad connotation. We both survived and I know Hadley will too. It's just crazy to think how the concept of the "nursery" has changed over 26 (almost 27) years.

I did have a wonderful couple, Betty and Ed, that took care of me, my sisters, and my cousin when we were younger. I was pretty young, but they were definitely good people. :)

Visit With Jessi

Over Spring Break, my beautiful nephews came to stay with us for a couple of days. These boys are so precious! I loved having a house full of kids!! They are especially sweet to Hadley. They take care of her, smile at her, play with her, and make her really happy. I could tell that Hadley loved having the extra company too!

We had so much fun together, and definitely a full week of fun:

Monday:

(I don't blame him...I had a traumatic experience with goats in the petting zoo as a child)

Joshua was very brave...as you saw in the video, he even chased them down...

Joshua Turns 6

I can not believe my first baby (nephew) is 6 years old! This boy and I have been "two peas in a pod" since he was born. For quite a long time, he has wanted a car that he could drive...so for his birthday we all went in and got him this amazing Dodge Charger Police Cruiser. It is awesome..(as you heard Joshua exclaim as he saw his present) Of course, Hadley just had to try it out after Ross put it together...

Hadley and her Papa...

He Loved his Present...

When we pulled the "car" out of our car to get it set up to give Joshua, the little boys who live next door and across the street come running out! They were so excited, and were screaming "cool" and "awesome" and "can I drive it" all before we even gave it to Joshy. Here is a picture of him and Julian riding...

Happy birthday my sweet Joshua! You are growing into such a wonderful, sweet, incredibly smart, (sometimes moody :) young man. You are so handsome, generous, tender hearted, and we love you very much! We will always be "two peas in a pod"

7 Months

Hadley Joy you are 7 months old! I can't believe it! You are my little bug. You weigh approximately 18 pounds. You are all over the chart on clothes. You can still fit into your 3-6 month onsies...you wear 6-12 month pants and onsies...you wear 9 month outfits. You are so fun to dress!

You are eating rice cereal in the morning, a bottle for lunch, vegetables and fruit for dinner, and a bottle before bed. Bananas and Pears don't seem to settle well with you right now, so we are going to try those again in a couple months. You do love your green beans though!

You are starting to show a little more personality. I think you are going to be a charmer. I think you are going to have mommy and daddy wrapped around your little finger for a very long time...

You have two teeth on the bottom (as seen above :) You also have both top teeth coming in. You grind your top and bottom teeth together and it makes mommy and daddy's skin crawl...

You are still an excellent sleeper. (mommy and daddy both appreciate this very much) You take a little 30 minute cat nap in the morning, a three hour nap in the afternoon, and sleep completely through the night.

You are such a good baby. You do have a set of lungs on you (I think you get that from me...and it will get you in trouble in the future, I'm sorry to say :) You very rarely "scream" in anger or because you are upset. You are mainly just a loud talker and laugher...

Speaking of laughter...You have to best laugh my ears have ever heard! It is a deep chuckle, and it is so infectious. If we are out running errands, the minute you speak or laugh, you have total command over the entire room. I love that you think mommy is so funny. However, I have to come up with something new everyday to make you laugh, because the same thing is never funny to you two days in a row.

You get so excited when you talk to Nana on the phone. You can recognize her voice and you talk back to her...

You love your daddy with all your heart. When daddy is at school studying, we Skype with him, and you love it! When he gets home from school everyday, your face lights up when you see him walk through the door.

I know you are never suppose to wake a sleeping baby, (and we never do) but sometimes, after we put you to bed, we both just miss you so much and want to cuddle with you. You pooch your booty so far up in the air while you sleep that mommy can literally fit her whole arm underneath you.

You are such a mover! You can not crawl on all fours, but you are a scooter on your belly! You LOVE to jump in your exerciser!!! You can sit up by yourself, unassisted...yeah!! You just can't put yourself in a sitting position yet.

We had to take some pictures of you with your Jippee. We love Jippee! Thank you to Courtney and Scott for giving Jippee to Hadley.

Hadley, you are a special girl. You are original, one of a kind, and can never be replaced. Your laugh and joyfulness make troubles melt away, and make everything worth it. A simple cuddle from you, can do wonders! When your daddy is busy and under a lot of pressure with school, all you have to do is snuggle your face into his neck and everything is right in the world again. (Mommy helps him too by telling him to "get off your pitty pot Nancy" and get it done :)
Hadley, just know, You Are Loved.
